Amyl and The Sniffers Cathartic Anthem of Nonconformity ‘Jerkin’

Known for their unapologetic attitude and raw, high-energy performances, Amyl and The Sniffers are back with a vengeance, dropping their explosive new single ‘Jerkin’ and gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated third album, ‘Cartoon Darkness’.

Frontwoman Amy Taylor describes the track as a cathartic anthem about expressing anger and finding humor in the face of societal expectations, particularly as a woman. The song’s provocative lyrics celebrate self-empowerment while putting down detractors, with Taylor boldly proclaiming, “The best part about this song is that a squirter can be anybody’s genitals.”

For the ‘Jerkin’ music video, Amyl and The Sniffers collaborated once again with director John Angus Stewart of PHC Films. The video aims to examine the human body in an open, conversational manner by stripping away artifice, allowing the subjects to dictate their level of comfort and input.

Stewart sheds light on the absurdity of censorship, stating, “The level of offense that a vagina or penis can generate is absolutely bizarre. It’s the context we stamp onto our sex organs that makes them innately ‘offensive.'”

The album tackles themes of sexual liberation, self-worth, nonconformity, and consumerism, serving as a rallying cry for breaking free from imposed shackles and embracing one’s authentic self. It showcases Amyl and The Sniffers’ growth and sonic evolution while maintaining their signature raw energy and uncompromising spirit.

The uncensored version, featuring full-frontal nudity, is exclusively hosted on the band’s website for viewers 18 and older, while a censored cut will be available on streaming platforms.
