Born Winifred Ohili Adanu in Benue State, Nigeria, Winny’s musical journey is deeply rooted in her personal experiences. Growing up in Jos, Nigeria, in a large family, she was instilled with values of love, contentment, and faith, which continue to shape her artistic expression.

‘Lego’ is a testament to Winny’s ability to craft music that resonates. The song navigates the intricacies of a relationship where the heart yearns for love while the mind seeks self-preservation.

As Winny explains, “‘Lego’ is all about the emotional struggle of being caught in a complicated relationship, between love and self-protection, while refusing to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster.”

While the lyrics explore complex emotional territory, the irresistible melody and Winny’s captivating vocals create a wheel-up worthy listen that showcases her artistic prowess. The production, embedded with funk and R&B elements, seamlessly blends with the reggae foundation, resulting in a fresh and vibrant sound. Drawing inspiration from artists like Chronixx, Wizkid, and Kranium, Winny brings her own distinct edge to the Afro-reggae scene.

Since her debut less than 18 months ago, Winny has been making significant strides in the music industry. Her self-titled 7-track project, released in April 2023, included the dynamic singles ‘Pretty’ and ‘Don’t Leave’, which debuted in the Top 200 of the Apple R&B/Soul Chart in several African countries. The project soared to Number 1 on the Apple Music R&B/Soul Chart in Nigeria and across multiple charts in at least 19 countries in Africa, North America, and the UK within its first week.

Winny’s rise as an Afro-reggae star is a beacon of hope for aspiring artists.  Her music is a reflection of her roots, her experiences, and her aspirations. With ‘Lego’, she invites listeners to dance, to feel, and to reflect on the complexities of love.
