Los Angeles-based women-led collective, GIRLSCHOOL, celebrates and connects women artists, leaders, and voices through an online platform and music related events.
In January 2017 the Second Annual Women-Fronted Music Festival takes place at the Bootleg Theater of which a portion of the proceeds will benefit ‘Rock’n’Roll Camp for Girls LA’ a social justice organization that uses loud music to nurture self-esteem and self-expression in young girls.
This year’s lineup includes Chelsea Wolfe, The Bird and The Bee, Francisca Valenzuela, Deap Vally, Caroline Smith, Pearl Charles, Winter, Rituals of Mine, Luna Shadows, Madame Gandhi, Starcrawler, Trace, Kid Wave, Liphemra, KONA, Soto Voce, and DJ sets from Gavin Turek, Tamaryn, Honey Power, and Val Fleury. Sponsors include: Nasty Gal, KROQ Locals Only, Bedrock.LA, Lyft, Sid The Cat presents, and Fender Guitars.
Founded by Anna Bulbrook, in response to how few women she saw onstage in the alternative rock world, GIRLSCHOOL has grown into a vibrant volunteer music community supporting women and girls.
